What to Consider When Installing or Replacing an Oxidizer System

The oxidizer systems that NESTEC engineers and supplies to the industrial marketplace are designed to have a life span of 20-25 years when operated and maintained appropriately. The systems are typically ground mounted adjacent to the manufacturing process. When installing a system or replacing an existing system, the following physical considerations should be reviewed:

Area Considerations

  • What is the overall access to the installation area?
  • Will a crane fit in the space and is the area of sufficient capacity for the project?
  • Is the pad poured and cured?
  • Are all critical components situated to provide adequate space for maintenance, including space for service equipment (man-lifts, etc.)?
  • What is the potential for noise issues?  Will the system be located near a potentially noise sensitive area?

Team Considerations

  • Are your teams ready?
  • Is everybody trained and safety checked?
  • Are restrooms available?
  • Is security set?

System Considerations

  • Have any and all secondary systems’ requirements, heat exchangers energy recovery, etc. been addressed? (This should also include the ductwork.)
  • Has the system been designed with access to the unit itself, i.e. doors or hatches, ladders or stairs, platforms etc.?
  • Are power and fuel available?
  • Has guarding and shielding for both moving parts and surface temperature inspection been assessed? Is a fence recommended?

These are just a few of the aspects to consider when installing an oxidizer system. NESTEC’s combined experience, spanning quite literally centuries, can help you develop and implement a smooth, effective installation for a system designed for a lifetime.
